MHS Speech Team Members and Parents,
Happy New Year! I hope everyone has had a relaxing and rejuivating break while finding some quality time with friends and family.
Also, snuck somewhere within this break, I trust that everyone has dedicated some time to Speech. As we all know, working on Speech over break is essential in order to get ready for the season. Impress your coach with all you've done.
TEAM FUNDRAISER JAN 11, 12:30, MARSHALL SENIOR CENTER - NEW LOCATION!
All team members are expected to attend this one and only fundraiser. See MrP if you have a conflict. Remember the 3 speechies with the most pre-sales win great prizes (Borch's Gift Cards)! To be eligible for prizes, you must turn in your pre-sales form and money to Mr. P by THIS FRIDAY!
SPEECH FAMILY POTLUCK JAN 11, 5:30, MARSHALL SENIOR CENTER- NEW LOCATION!
The Speech Family Potluck will be after our fundraiser. All family members are invited and strongly encouraged to attend. See your mailing for potuck food details. There will be a short program including a "speech fashion show" after we eat. The evening will be short -- we'll be done around 7ish.
DASSEL-COKATO
The first tournament for our entire team is at Dassel-Cokato on January 24. That's just 19 days away!! Will you be ready?
If you are planning on purchasing your speech suit soon, I'd recommend waiting until after the speech fashion show. If you can't wait, be sure to carefully look over the dress code packet found in your folder. The dress code packet is labeled "Are You Well-Suited for Speech?"
JUDGES' WORKSHOP FOR PARENTS!
All speech parents are invited to attend the Judges' Workshop on Saturday, January 10 at 9am-11am in the MHS Fine Arts Conference room. Just enter the school through the fine arts doors of the high school and follow the signs! Donuts provided but bring your own coffee! After this workshop, you'll be trained to judge at any tournament our team attends!
TEAM MEETING
Our first team meeting will be Tuesday, January 13 at 7:30 in Mr. Purrington's room. All team members are expected to attend.
TEAM PHOTO
Our professional team photo by Photoworks will be at MHS after the last round of competition on Friday of the Schwan's Speech Spectacular - around 8pm on Jan 30.
ONE ACT PLAY FOLKS
Those of you who are NOT competing at the Schwan's Speech Spectacular due to the One Act Play conflict are all expected to help us with hospitality and other duties on Friday, Jan 30 starting at 11:30 (school dismisses at 11:15). You will also want to be at MHS in your suits at 8pm for the team photo.
SCHWAN'S SPEECH SPECTACULAR
Our team hosts one of the most prestigious touranments in the Midwest - the Schwan's Speech Spectacuar on January 30 and 31. We need help from parents to make this huge undertaking a success. Contact Lila Schmidt to learn more lilalamb@starpoint.net
